Jamorama Review

Hey there, it’s Adam here. I finally got down to writing my Jamorama review and here it is.

By the way, if you were looking for the official Jamorama site then just click the link below:

Why am I writing this? Well when I first started learning guitar I came across Jamorama on the web. I tried to do some research but there were very few real reviews of the course by actual users.

So I thought I’d write one to help out anybody thinking about picking this up.

Who is Jamorama for?

The first question is pretty important because if you have the wrong expectations then this may not be for you.

I would say Jamorama is best suited to beginner and intermediate guitarists overall. If you are an advanced player then you may be able to brush up on your skills but you may know a lot of what is taught.

Also if you think that Jamorama will take you from a complete beginner to seriously advanced overnight then you will be disappointed. There is no product or guitar teacher out there who can do that. Get used to the idea that it will take practice but the practice will actually be fun.

What do you get?

If you have been used to learning from your average guitar book then this will come as a nice surprise. There are tons of videos, audios, manuals and even software that show you how to play in a structured way.

You learn in the lessons they have set out for you and have separate manuals for beginner and advanced. Along with that you can jam along to the tracks (this was a really cool part in improving my skills).

Jamorama members also get some nice bonuses such as tuning software, training to give you better pitch and also a trial access to SongPond which is a site that teaches you to play songs by artists like Jimi Hendrix, Radiohead, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Green Day and many others.

Any problems?

I would have liked to have the ability to record what I play and listen back to it. This would be pretty helpful in seeing where I went wrong and how to improve it I think.

Jamorama doesn’t have this unfortunately but I emailed their support desk and get a very quick reply. So hopefully this could be added in the future.

The Verdict

As I said above, this is best suited to beginner and intermediate guitarists. They have really set this up so that you could go from never having played at all through to a really good guitarist if you follow along.

And even if you hate working to a plan and rather do your own thing, you can still pick up new skills and play along to tracks.

On top of that it is very cheap for what you get. I looked into getting some guitar lessons from a professional and the prices were crazy. If you buy Jamorama it is a once-only fee and you get lessons that will last about a year (a lot more realistic for most people).

So all in all I would highly recommend trying Jamorama. They give you a 60 day guarantee so if you’re not satisfied they will refund your money but I doubt you will need it.

Guitar Lessons Online

Posted in Jamorama on February 19th, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

The idea of using guitar lessons online to learn to play an instrument would have seemed strange even just a few years back. But these days technology has moved forward so far that I think it is the only way to learn unless you can afford to pay a top teacher for lessons.

Online you can now get access to high quality videos which can show you in real detail all aspects of playing guitar and get lessons that take you from beginner to advanced. This includes basic chords and strumming techniques, through to complex picking and guitar solos than will blow your friends away.

While there are some fairly decent tutorials available on You Tube I have found that they are fairly incomplete if you want to really get good…most people seem to just want to show off their skills!

I have personally been using Jamorama which is one of the most respected companies providing online lessons for guitar. They do acoustic and lead guitar tuition and all the content is downloadable to work through at your own pace.

I will have a full Jamorama review shortly but if you are interested you can get some free guitar lessons from them and see what the quality is like. If you’re wondering what the catch is well their open and honest about it. They offer some free guitar training and hope you will like it and buy the paid courses, but the choice is yours.

Even the free stuff is cool so I would highly recommend checking it out. The deluxe package comes with a whole years training so it can take you from beginner to advanced if you are really dedicated.

Learn To Play Guitar

Posted in Jamorama on February 19th, 2010 by admin – Be the first to comment

Playing guitar is one of the best activities you can do in my opinion. Whether you want to play in a a band or just play for pleasure as a hobby it is well worth putting in some effort to master the skill. There are many ways you can learn to play guitar and there are good and bad to them all.

Paying for lessons is one option. The great thing about this is that if you have a good teacher you will have someone who can give you feedback and tell you what you are doing right and wrong. The negative side is that to get a good guitar teacher it will be very expensive and somebody who doesn’t charge much may mean you pick up bad habits.

Another option is to learn for yourself. This is hit and miss as yo will just be playing along without any formal training. If you only want to learn the basics or play punk music you might like this idea but chances are it will take a long time to get good.

The final option is to use a course. This way you get quality lessons and music to practice but don’t have to pay very much to do so. This is the middle ground and can work very well if you are looking to learn fast without spending a lot of money. With a good course you will learn chords, strumming techniques, and have guitar tabs so you can play along to music.

When you have decided I think it is a good idea to set aside some time each day to practice what you are learning. Even if you have limited time make sure you spend some time playing and you will generally see some very quick improvements. You may be surprised to find out how far you will come in not too long a time.
